Cat Flap was created during my senior year at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I wanted to focus solely on performance, so I choose
to keep my film limited to one character, a single location, and as few
shots possible. The animation was done traditionally and then scanned
for clean-up and color. I choose to work this way because I love animating
with a pencil and paper. The ability to watch your character come to life
by flipping a few sheets of paper at a time is simply amazing and I cant
get enough of it.

The film was completed in ten weeks and was a huge learning experience for me. One of the main lessons the project taught me was the
ability to let go. I love nit-picking and polishing a shot to death but the
production time frame forced me to let go and move on so the film could
be completed on time.
